“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:1-4)
We can never understand the beginning of the year if we don’t know what happened at the beginning of creation. Every beginning of the year, the Lord does something new. In the beginning of creation there was no form, there was void, and darkness.
Every beginning of the year, many things can be formless, you may be filling a void in you, and you can be seeing darkness all around you. Don’t panic. The Spirit of God was moving upon the face of the waters but there was no action until God said, “Let there be light”. And this is what every child of God needs to have at the beginning of the year.
Light will give you life, light will direct your paths, light will instruct you, light will fill you with wisdom, light will show you where to begin from, light will protect you, light will save you from ditches and potholes of this dark world. Ask the Lord for light. Ask him to fill your life systems with light.
